Nothing brings a smile to my face like a dog who is totally in love with life. I recently photographed Jax and his people  (Mallory and Chad) and this dog had the best. day. ever during his pet photography session. But I suspect this is the type of pup who has the best day ever every day.

I met Chad and Mallory at Ryan Park in North Kingstown, RI for their afternoon pet photography session. Mallory had told me she bought a new house and the walls were so bare. As soon as I met Jax, I knew we could fix that problem for her! He is so exuberant and happy and photogenic. But even better, he combines that spark with some good listening skills, so basically he was a pet photographer’s dream!

Ryan Park’s beautiful varied terrains include this lovely soft grassy field. I love the texture and depth that some good tall grass brings to an image. Jax was so well-behaved off-leash that he was able to romp around loose for his portraits. I can always edit out leashes if necessary; my first goal is to keep all of my clients (2-legged and 4-legged) safe! But he was a great listener and took direction from Mallory flawlessly.

This photo cracks me up!! Look at those neatly tucked back legs. Coming from the horse world, this dog would be an excellent jumper if he were a horse. So cute!!

I always tell my human clients to come dressed ready for photos, even if we’re shooting a pet photography session. Why not?!

Mallory is so beautiful and I could not take a bad portrait of her. Again, we were in my favourite tall grass, which conveniently makes a nice frame for my subjects in this image.

What a great session! Thanks to Mallory and Chad for letting me photograph their 4-legged baby.
