Danielle, Annalisa and their little boy Jayden are all getting ready to welcome a new addition to the family, a baby girl! I traveled to Chapin Beach yesterday to photograph their Cape Cod maternity session. The beach was almost deserted except for a few people out walking their happy Golden Retrievers. The tide was all the way out and the beach was a beautiful light cream colour. Even on a cloudy day, the water was bright blue in places. I have to go back during the summer and see it in good weather! Annalisa and Danielle told me it is so beautiful.

The weather was overcast but still unusually warm for February. I couldn’t believe how far this beach stretched in all directions.

Normally after a photo session, I head home and edit the images, then put together a slideshow to show my clients so they can choose their prints. Usually it’s about week process, but yesterday I decided to edit the images right away and then show them to Annalisa and Danielle same day, since we are so far apart from each other. It saved me an extra trip out there and this way I got to show them the images in person, instead of by screen sharing online.

It was a crazy day but there was something really magical about showing them their portraits that I had just taken a few hours earlier. This is one of my favourites. Just look at his sweet little smile.

Jayden was so inquisitive. I have a white squishy attachment for my flash and he thought that was the coolest thing ever. He loved all the buttons on my camera. I just about fell over from the cuteness when he was quietly surveying the beach as I madly clicked away. I just love this age.

This is the first Cape Cod maternity session I have ever shot and I hope I get to go back again soon. It was so beautiful, even on a rainy day in the middle of winter!
