Lida and Chad are getting excited to welcome their first baby and wanted to get some portraits of them as a 2+1 family. We all met on a blustery winter’s day in Newport, Rhode Island, for their maternity portrait session.
Lida and Chad’s Newport maternity session started out on the docks off of Thames St in Newport, just a short walk from their home. Their two dogs participated also, which I was thrilled about. I love dogs and these two were the cutest! They are Manchester Terriers and thought the photoshoot was just for them.
“We’re ready for our closeup!” they practically called to me as they played on the docks in Downtown Newport. How lucky are Lida and Chad to have this within a quick 5 minute walk from their home?
Lida and Chad chose to keep their casual, comfortable, warm clothes for their session, and the choice perfectly matched their laid-back personalities. Plus it was so cold this day that Lida would have been pretty chilly in a dress!
Chad was so cute and played right along with my vision for the images. It is extra special when a couple is expecting their first baby and these two are so excited. I hope Lida and Chad’s baby sees this image to know how much love he or she is part of.
After getting the images we wanted off of Thames St in Newport, we made our way over to Castle Hill to continue Lida and Chad’s Newport maternity session. Castle Hill Inn has a beautiful lighthouse that Lida and Chad are fond of.
We wrapped up their Newport maternity session in a beautiful grove of trees with the late afternoon light streaming through behind them. It was almost magical light!
