Lauren and David tied the knot at Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, RI, on September 16th, 2018. I met with them almost a year ago to sign their contract and learn about their wedding plans, and the time up to the wedding flew by. Lauren and David live in North Carolina, but Lauren’s family lives in Rhode Island, so their wedding was a bit like a big family reunion in addition to the wedding itself! So fun.

I carried a sixpence in my shoe at my own wedding but I think Lauren is the first bride I have ever photographed who also had a sixpence. In addition, she had on her dress a rosette from her grandmother’s wedding dress. Isn’t that the sweetest thing you have ever seen? I loved it!
Irena Mandel was my second shooter and she did an amazing job with the guys.
Lauren and David did a first look, which is always so romantic and a perfect opportunity for some portraits of the two of them before we get to the formals.
Lauren also did a first look with her Dad, which I loved. More and more brides are choosing to do this and I think it’s adorable and sweet. The dads always get a little teary.
Then it was formals time. What a good looking bunch!! It was bright and sunny so we picked a shady spot under some trees for formals.
We had about 20 minutes before the ceremony started, so I went into the mansion with Lauren and David. There is a beautiful staircase that leads up to a balcony. The balcony overlooks an exquisite formal sitting room. I am so glad we did some portraits there.
The ceremony was short and sweet, and Lauren and David’s vows had everyone in the audience listening with full attention.
Lauren and Dan were announced as husband and wife, and we whisked off into the surrounding property to get their portraits. Doing the formal portraits before the ceremony meant that we had tons of time to get beautiful images of the two of them, and we took full advantage!
They had a Great Gatsby-type of theme and I loved all the details, including the groom’s cake! David is a cycling fanatic and Lauren had this amazing grooms cake made for him.
Their reception was under the tent with tiny lights delicately strung from the ceiling.
It was a fabulous party and everyone was out on the dancefloor enjoying themselves. At the end of the night, I took Lauren and Dan out to a tree right next to the tent and got some dramatic portraits of them with the tree all lit up by my flashes. What a great wedding!!
