I have known Jessica for years, after meeting her through the horse community. She’s heavily involved with Thoroughbred racing, developed her career at Suffolk Downs in Boston, owns a member of Thoroughbred royalty, and all in all is really a spectacular, bubbly and super smart person. Throughout the years we’ve done some photo sessions with her horse, her Bull Terriers, and when she got engaged to Keith, I was flattered and honoured that they contacted me to sort out their wedding photography.
If their engagement session was any indication, I knew I was in for a treat working with these two. For one, they are both adventurous and open to a lot of crazy things (like jumping in the ocean fully clothed during their e-session “for the photos”). Also, they are a perfect match and made my job easy. I’d be halfway finished telling them what to do for the next image, and bam, they were already in that pose or doing that action.
Their wedding day of December 1, 2018 arrived after a very busy season. Jess is super particular and detail oriented so I knew the wedding would be decorated and done up to the nines. I arrived at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield for the wedding day and I was blown away by what a gorgeous venue it is. It’s this old stone faced mansion with a large open field in front of it. I opened the door and the whole place looked like it jumped out of a home decorators magazine. It was festive. It was classy. It was cozy and warm and had the perfect amount of sparkle. The florist was already there decorating, and the place was buzzing.
I was my typical early self so I hung out with Keith and his groomsmen a bit before going in with the girls. My second shooter, Irena, arrived shortly after and spent more time with the guys as they did their thing. By that I mean they hung out, drank beer, played Connect4, told jokes, and goofed around. Meanwhile, the girls were also having fun shooting champagne corks across the room while they got their makeup done and put the finishing touches on their hair.
Jess was rocking her typical flawless face and a high ponytail…yes you read that right, this bride had her hair in a ponytail for her wedding…she’s basically my hero. I got right to work photographing details, candids, some fun group shots and of course her gorgeous dress.
The ceremony and reception proceeded without any issues and the whole day was just so special and beautiful. Gibbs and Eve, the two Bull Terriers, were both honoured guests at the ceremony and were featured in small details throughout the whole day, complete with customized napkins, featured cocktails and a cake topper. I really have to hand it to Willowdale Estate; they did a fabulous job throughout the entire event. This was my first time photographing a wedding at Willowdale Estate and I certainly hope to go back soon.
Without further ado, I give you a small fraction of the images from their wedding day. I went a little overboard, I know, I know. Everything was just so beautiful.
