Children are such an amazing gift. I love maternity and birth photography because these are the photos you will look back on in one week, a few months, and ten years later and feel like it was just yesterday that you felt your baby’s soft movements, or held your tiny newborn for the first time. Birth Photography in Rhode Island is slowly becoming more popular and I am doing my best to share the beauty of these emotional and raw images with families who are expecting a new baby.
When I gave birth to my daughter, my Mum, who is also a professional photographer, came and documented my baby’s arrival. Those images are so precious to me, more precious than probably any others that I have taken (and I take a lot of pictures!). I want to offer other soon-to-be-moms and dads the same opportunity.
Birth photography is about capturing the momentous occasion of adding another person to your family. The mom’s partner supporting her through labour, the hyper-focused stage where the mother knows the baby is here, the baby’s first breath, the parents finally seeing this perfect little child for the first time after they’ve seen him or her on countless sonograms, the nurses pressing the baby’s feet against the birth certificate and measuring the baby’s head, and the family’s first few hours together. Those are all moments you will only have one time, ever, and those are the moments I will do my very best to capture during a birth, as long as I can get them without being in the way of the care providers.
I will be on call for two weeks before your due date, up to two weeks after your due date. If you have a scheduled induction or c-section, I will book no other clients that day, and I’ll be available for you whenever you want me to be at your child’s birthplace, whether it be your home, a hospital or birthing center. The Birth Photography investment includes a custom 20-page 8×8″ lay-flat press printed book that will be a keepsake to cherish for years to come, along with the high-resolution files. Contact me today to get on my schedule.
