Responsive Website Design

Website design perfectly balances my nerd alter-ego with my design background. I spent ten years after college working in the e-learning field, where I was part of many user group studies that looked at how people look for content, and I use all of that knowledge when deciding how a site is going to be laid out. We’ll also chat about your target audience so I can build your site with them in mind. All of my website design projects include professional photography, to ensure that your website will feature clear, vibrant images that sell your brand and stand out in a crowd. In addition, I can help create and integrate social media accounts, along with Google Ad integration, Google Analytics, MailChimp/Constant Contact for marketing emails, etc. I can also update an existing website that is outdated and doesn’t accurately convey your brand.

Due to the time-intensive nature of website design projects, I only accept limited projects each month. My clients are located near and far; if you’re local, I’d love to meet in person to discuss your website design project and your vision for the finished product, but if you are not local, I can easily complete the project remotely. If you are thinking about updating an old site, or starting a new one for a new business venture, I’d love to talk to you about the project to see if we would be a good fit.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Why do I love web design?

Because it's like the Internet's version of a handshake. Often your first impression of a company is through their website. Can you get a good feel of the level of expertise, professionalism and quality that the company offers? Is this first impression going to drive you to pick up the phone and call the company, or purchase an item through them over one of their competitors? All of these quandaries are problems I aim to answer in your favour when I design your website.

Will my new website play nice with any device?

WordPress's responsive layouts offer a premium experience for your site visitors. They are mobile friendly, tablet friendly, browser friendly, and seamlessly mold their layouts to look beautiful no matter what device your visitors are using. Gone are the days people need to scroll across a screen on a tiny phone to try and find your contact information!

Will everyone be able to use my website?

WordPress does not use any flash, so you don't have to worry about certain tablet users being left in the dark. Everyone will be able to see your beautiful work splashed right across the page as they browse through your site. To make things even better, WordPress uses powerful HTML5 to bring some super cool animations and effects to life.

What kind of maintenance will my new site need?

WordPress is built by employing plugins to make the site look nice and have various functionalities that are important to your business. If one of those plugins is not updated properly or in a timely manner, it can cause serious issues. Once your new site launches, I will give you a personalized step-by-step how-to guide that will give you the tools to update content on your site and make sure everything continues to run smoothly. I absolutely recommend investing in a monthly maintenance plan for your site to keep it running well, though, so you don't need to worry about anything; I'll do all the work and keep the website up to date.

Will my new website have great SEO?

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is how your website talks to Google. There are many aspects of achieving really good SEO, including content, markup, image optimization, keywords, snippets, new content, and more. If all of that makes you feel nervous, don’t worry. I’ve got you covered. I write content on my client websites with SEO in mind, including designating keywords for each page and writing Google-friendly pages. There are always ways to improve SEO and new flowing content is one big one, but again, I am available at hourly or monthly subscription rates to keep that content pumping into your site and your SEO ratings high.

Where else on the web should my business have a presence?

Your website isn't the only place that your business should have a presence. If you're starting from scratch, I can help you set up social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram. Yelp, Angie's List, and Google My Business provide excellent platforms to collect reviews and maintain business profiles. If you're looking to do paid advertising, I can create and maintain a Google Ads account for you, where I'll build display and search campaigns that target your specific audience. Then I'll monitor how all of these platforms (and your website) are performing each month with a Google Analytics account.
